Today I'm going to suggest you a journey in space and time! From the end of July for 10 days the beautiful city of Senigallia, a famous seaside resort in Le Marche appreciated for its velvet beaches, becomes the setting of one of the most original festivals in Italy: the Senigallia Summer Jamboree.

Read more about this event and hurry up, it's almost time to leave!!!

The event

Senigallia Summer Jamboree: the name does not have a real meaning but is usually translated as a summer gathering with parties and revelry.

It is an International Festival dedicated to music and American culture of the 40s and 50s.

The idea was born in 2000 by a citizen of Senigallia who has managed to turn a party with old friends into a world-wide event.

The first edition lasted only one day, but then from 2002 it has increased its popularity and length.

The festival, which is free entry, now lasts about 10 days and usually begins on the last weekend of July.

Shows and locations

The event involves the whole city, from the historic centre to the seafront: bars, shops, clubs and all the famous places in Senigallia are decorated on that theme. There are about forty live concerts and many dj sets on the beach playing music  from 12 pm to the early hours in the morning: swing, rock and roll, jive, doo-wop, rhythm'n'blues, hillbilly and western. There are artists from all over the world, both promising new talent and celebrities. Do not miss the Big Hawaiian Party, running from sunset till dawn at the velvet beach.

If you are fond of vintage, I recommend you a visit to the Rockin' Village, a great modernity and memorabilia market open every day from 5pm to 1am. You will find juke boxes, hats, gadgets, paintings, guitars, country objects, vinyl records, CDs, shoes, new and second hand clothing...in short, everything about the culture of those years. There's also a Barber shop for men and hairdressers for women, where you can recreate hairstyles of that time. For a full experience, you absolutely have to try the spicy dishes of the dining area Cajun & Tex Mex Diner, typical of Louisiana and people living along the border between the United States of America and Mexico.

Don't miss out on a selfie with vintage cars in the background, some truly unique American models. And if you have one in your garage, bring it to the festival! You will get a lot of benefits, including the access to the Rockin'Parking, a fenced and secure car park in the historic centre of Senigallia. If you like dancing, you should join the Dance camp, a dance course where you can learn rock'n'roll and swing styles together with the best Italian and international professionals. If you are not completely a beginner, but you want to improve your technique you can also choose your level.

Don't forget to dress up with a vintage inspired look! ;) Write me in the comments if you enjoyed this crazy festival!
